Al Zubeir is a historical community whose descent is from East Africa. This community is located outside of the city of Basra and is most famous for the musical groups. These groups make their own instruments from goat skins. They are commonly seen playing at joyous events, such as weddings. These people live in extreme poverty, with little to no public services. Many have left their homes to look for work in larger surrounding cities.
“How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights.” Psalm 36:7-8
Father, this group of people has been looked down on for centuries. They have been forgotten by all, and we ask You to please show them that they are known by You. You know their name, You have a plan for them, and they can take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. Lord, send people to Al Zubeir to show the people there of Your steadfast love and how they can know You through Christ.
