Situated on the banks of the Euphrates River, this city was once home to many displaced Armenians after the Ottoman Empire forced them to leave their home. However, the people of Deir ez-Zor cared for the Armenian people and provided safety for them.
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind,
that by testing you may discern what is the will of God,
what is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:2
Lord, as the Armenian people have acclimated to the culture and religion around them over the last decades, we pray they would not conform to the world, but they would read Your Word and their minds would be transformed. We pray that they would live so differently than those around them and that they would be a bright light that many would be drawn to. Let them see that it is not by works but by Christ alone that we have forgiveness of sins, and let them share that with those around them.
