Homs is the third largest city in Syria. Before the start of the Syrian Civil War, it was the center for industry. It was a city of diversity with Sunni, Alawity Muslims, and Christians making up the population. After the Civil War, much of the city was devastated and left in ruins. Al-Baath University, one of four major universities in Syria, is located there along with one of the oldest sport clubs: Al-Karamah Sports Club.
"Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built." Luke 6:47-48
Lord, as the people of Homs are rebuilding their lives, their homes, their city, may they follow You and build their lives on the Rock of Christ.
