Palmyra/Tadmur is an oasis in the Syrian desert, it was once one of the most important cultural centers in the ancient world. Palmyra is an ancient archeological site located just north of Damascus. This area remains a key historical and cultural site for Syrians as it has for centuries. It is predominantly Sunni Muslim with a small Syriac Catholic community. It's population increased during civil war as displaced people fled there.
"He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water." Psalm 107:35
Lord, as they see this oasis that You have put in the Syrian desert, may they praise Your name. May they know that You are their provider and the One that meets their daily needs. May they also come to know that not only have You provided daily water but that Jesus Christ has offered them living water.
