Historically, this area of Iraq has been populated by the Yazidi peoples. These minority peoples have faced much persecution throughout the years. Recently, many were kidnapped, forced to become fighters, or murdered as they sought shelter on Mount Sinjar in 2014. Today, many men, women, and children are still missing and families search and long to know what happened to their loved ones.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12
Lord, the Yazidi people do not know that Jesus is Lord and that He loves them and died for their sins. They are working their way to You through a false religion and have been persecuted greatly throughout the years for their beliefs. Lord, open their eyes to see that Satan has blinded them from the truth and that You have a good plan for them. Lord, as they come to You give them Your peace that passes all understanding and show them their purpose in their suffering.
